About The Event
What is Archaeology? How is it done? Where does an Archaeologist start? Why is Archaeology important? When does Archaeology stop?
If the subject of discovering artifacts (ancient or modern) under the ground fascinates you, come along and learn a little more. We will look at how old maps and modern photography can aid in the identification of sites, and explain the process of watching brief, evaluation and excavation through to the post excavation phase.
This workshop is designed to be an introduction to what Archaeology is, covering terms processes and sources of evidence.
A future workshop will look at the excavation process and how Archaeologists approach the excavation of different features. This will be a practical workshop involving trowels, recording sheets and mud!
